The translation of Val Lumnezia is the 'The Valley of Light'. It is the largest valley in the Surselva area. It stretches southwards from the town of Ilanz. The Val Lumnezia is a small but lovely tourist destination. Because of its southwards facing location it has more sun than the surrounding valleys in the area. It offers a lot of nature and peace in Summer. In Winter the connection to the Obersaxen Mundaun skilifts, makes it possible to have lovely full days of skiing. Ilanz is the first small city on the river Rhine, that starts in Dissentis and flows through Switzerland, Germany to end up in the North Sea in Holland. Ilanz has a small historic center. Furthermore it has a couple of shops you might need:
Vella is a lovely Village in the Val Lumnezia
It has a couple of restaurants, bars, the skilift and a small grocery store.
